I was at a memorial service the other day for a man who, in the past, had done unspeakable things to his sons and daughters when they were children.  Yet, at his service, one son and one daughter spoke of their sadness in losing him and in their love for him as did brothers, sisters, and other family where were all completely clear on what had consistently happened years ago.

It truly amazed me; what the meaning of forgiveness and love for a parent were in their cases.  I actually don’t know how much they had really forgiven their father, or maybe I didn't believe it, but what surprised me was that they were even standing there, reading something caring about this man.  There is a lesson in there somewhere.
