2004 Train Trip – Part 5 - 10/27/04

We woke up in the morning in New York State.  We had breakfast and then Brenda got ready while I read.  We had breakfast with a guy who was from Schenectady, New York, and who was originally from Massachusetts.  He told us about his trip to Manitoba, Canada to watch polar bears near the city of Churchill.  We later had lunch with a guy, Rick, from Albuquerque, New Mexico, who was an architect.

We arrived in Penn Station after skirting the upper Manhattan/Hudson River area.  Brenda and I got onto the subway platform that would take us up town.  A train arrived and the doors opened with people rushing in and out.  We had lots of luggage, and I was about to jump on board, and at the last moment, thought better of it since I knew the doors were close to shutting, which they did.  I realized that if I had, Brenda would have been standing in a subway station in a city that she had never been to before.  I had to be more careful than this.

We got to my aunt’s place on Central Park West and settled in.  Shortly after that, Brenda and I went and got some pizza on Columbus Avenue, and then went to see “Hairspray” on Broadway.  It was great.

We then went to walk the streets a bit.  That night, I bought and sent out a load of postcards.
